"Let Your Light Shine"
A Warm Welcome to Newtown Church of England Primary School
I am delighted to welcome you to our website and to offer you a glimpse into the joyful, vibrant community that is Newtown Primary School. I encourage you to read our recent Ofsted Report and Church School Inspection Report, which provide a flavour of what makes our school special. However, nothing compares to experiencing our school in person—please do arrange a visit if you would like to find out more.
Nestled in the picturesque Shropshire countryside between Wem and Ellesmere, Newtown is a small village school with a big heart. We see our school community as a family, working together in harmony to create new and exciting opportunities for our children to become active, enthusiastic learners.
As a proud Church of England School, our vision—‘Let Your Light Shine’ (Matthew 5:16)—is at the heart of everything we do. We nurture each child as a unique individual, seeking to identify and develop their skills and talents through a wide range of activities both within and beyond the classroom.
We believe that children learn best when they are happy and engaged, so we strive to make learning fun and meaningful. Our aim is to help every pupil develop resilience, determination, and the confidence to achieve their goals, growing into happy, healthy, and ambitious individuals.
We are passionate about broadening our children’s horizons, showing them that the world is full of possibilities. Our extensive school grounds provide many opportunities for outdoor learning, and educational and residential visits are a valued part of our curriculum.
With strong family values at our core, we encourage our children to take pride in themselves and to uphold the best of British Values in their attitudes and behaviour. Through collective worship and daily activities, we support our pupils’ spiritual development and encourage them to be thoughtful, reflective learners.
Please take some time to explore our website, and do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to arrange a visit—I would be delighted to show you around our wonderful school.
Kind regards,
Mr Ben Crompton.
