Welcome back! Hawk Class have another very busy and exciting term ahead!
This term, in English we will continue to use quality texts as the vehicle through which we develop our writing. We won't share what these texts are here as certain lessons require children to predict what the text is about or what comes next, but we are really excited about our texts this term and we are sure your child will tell you all about them! We will continue with our weekly spelling tests alongside handwriting practice.
Power Maths is now embedded in our curriculum and the children are increasingly confident with this mastery approach to the teaching of mathematics. It is proving to strengthen and deepen the understanding of new concepts and the children's mathematical thinking. Weekly mathematical tests continue and you will be able to monitor your child's progress in their Home School Journals.
In our Wider Curriculum subjects, we will study why we should care for the world and the stories Jesus told. We will explore moving a robot using Beebots in our computing lessons whilst within Science we will study everyday materials and their properties. We have a seaside theme this term in both History where we study Grace Darling and her amazing rescue and in our 'beside the seaside' Geography theme. This will overflow into our Art and Design where we will study a beach landscape using different media. In Design Technology, our focus will be food. Please have a look at our Curriculum Page on the website for much more detail on what will be taught and when.
Homework will contune to be set weekly and for all information please look at our 'Home Learning' page.
To support our learning inside the classroom, we will visit Blue Planet aquarium with Owl class. More details will be shared soon.
